From my knowledge ,I dont think it can be done, the Crosshair is just a cursor type,the box PICKBOX at crossection of crosshairs is there to help highlightingpreviewing of objects, you can reduce the size of pickbox to 1 which will be of miniscule size on screen,but never to 0 as this will stop you from previewing. Before commenting don't comment on how crosshairs are scum, this discussion is if they are VAC bannable etc. Most gaming monitors have built in crosshair overlay.
